What I Wore Today....

I woke up feeling like it's getting a little close to New Years, so I better get my sparkle going, otherwise I won't be able to pull it off, when it's like, you know, March. Haha.

My store had one last Keaton Tux Cardigan, albeit in an XS, and it's fitted, I took it because I don't think I can find a small at this point. I really like it. I never went for the tux look because I never had anywhere to go. I also contemplated the tux blazer, which is on sale right now, but how many instances will I want to wear tux jacket? Really, only during the holidays, and even then, I don't need another dark blazer, unless it's something super cool, like the Bella Jacket.

I got my sparkle on, with one of my favorite collection pieces, the J.Crew Antiqued Sequin tank top, which runs a little big, even though it's a 0. It's from last year, I believe and I got it on sale. There are several variations of this tank, from the Bergen (which I have for sale, nwt) and the browner version, which is, yikes, $500. I think I got mine at the FS when deals were deals at jcrew.com.

Vintage slim fit jeans, black patent ballet flats from Cole Hahn, and a black scarf...

It's lunch with clients days, so I have to dress sparkly to fit my equally sparkling personality!

Happy New Year!

PS- What I'm wearing for New Years Eve? Pajamas. Yup, I party hard like that!

What I Wore Today!

Once in a while, I get tired of J.Crew. Why, why, why, how, how, how, can anyone be sick of their favorite store? Well, for one, I get tired of justifying buying $50 tees that I don't LOVE, but I do anyway, because frankly, it's new, I don't have it, and yeah, it looks like everything else I own, but it's got a TAG I CAN SNAP OFF and make that ultra cool sound that says, yup, your day is going to be better if you wear something new.

Well, during one of my "not feeling so hot about jcrew and their bland color palette" moods, I explored. How far did I go? Well, I searched the Gap. I was in dire need of some holiday color. Or something cute. I don't care. Give me something I can wear, it doesn't even have to say jcrew! Gap had TONS of holiday plaid. I love holiday plaids, with bright yellows, bright blues, bright Christmas colors. Greens, and Purples. Skittles, taste the rainbow. But, Gap is Gap and they didn't have much that dazzled me. I went to BR, and same old, same old, stuff is a repeat of every other season, with some new stuff, but I don't really follow their lines, so I wasn't aching for anything they had.

Forever21. I have been laughing about this store for YEARS now. It's like they took over the Wet Seal (remember this store??), and the name cracks me up. I remember how I was at 21, and although I was a newbie in a very important field, I was unsure of myself, playing a grown up, in a child's body. I remember having to try to prove myself at every turn, wondering why no one would take me seriously. So, 21, although my skin was like a baby's ass, and I was 5 lbs thinner, and I could legally drink and gamble, I would never want to literally be Forever 21. Oh, and I didn't have any money, which is why this store is attractive to those looking to stay stylish and not go broke right? I've been in like once, for 10 seconds and would crack up at the quality of the clothing. This store carries what I like to term "disposable clothing". By the time you wear it once, it's usually out of style and you dispose of it.

Maybe it was the Parisian theme, or maybe it was because I was longing for something that was childish, cute, and respectable at the same time. I saw this online, and it struck me that for $14, I could own this, and buy 2 more as gifts and still feel good about myself. Pretty cool. So, I rocked a couple of Xmas parties with this outfit and everyone thought it looked so cute. Ohhhh, snap, that's because it was.

Paired with my chunky hunky marled cardigan, vintage slim jeans, and my red/black check man scarf, I was ready to hit the town....

What I Wore to Work Today!

I guess from seeing all the previews of Spring 2010 I need to get in gear from some military looks. But since I'm secretly a princess that doesn't like to get dirty, I'm going to have to mix lots of girl + cashmere + silks to pull it off. At the store, there are a lot of cargos, so I finally threw in the towel and got some cargo pants. I really dont like the camoflauge look, but I don't mind mixing in a few things I already have to...you know, go with the fashion flow.

I got the keepsake cardigan online, and wore a lighter gray favorite fit tank, my striped brown scarf, which is a nice brown/cream color, pearls and black ballet patent flats. It's amazing how much a nice scarf keeps you warm and stylish.

Overall, I am proud of these pants. They've gotten a few wears, and nothing says, hey, I'm the right size for you, like j.crew rip stop CROP cargo pants. Crop = perfect length for the shorties!

What I Wore on Christmas!

I love Christmas. Not so much because I like getting gifts, although this year was all about the cool gifts: Nespresso pods for my new Nespresso. Side note: my bf bought me a Nespresso machine. It was pricey at $350 at Williams Sonoma, I have to admit. I don't think I've ever wanted something so domestic and expensive at the same time- crazy because I don't think twice about that and clothing. Anyway, it turns out to be like 50 cents per pod, which is crazy cheap, because starbucks will charge you $4 for a cappuccino. So, 100 uses will just about break even. The best part is, every morning my bf will bring me my nonfat, double shot, extra dry with one sugar in the raw cappuccino, hot and pronto. He loves playing barista and I love playing customer. He got this for me in November when it started getting cooler and I was not in the mood to drink a cold Starbucks double shot in a can.

My sister got me 200 pods for Xmas, and I love her for it. I also got gift cards, cash, etc. It was awesome.

The BEST part was what I got everyone. That, to me, is the best best best part of Xmas. I got my sister some J.Crew, my 4 1/2 year old niece a crap load of Calico Critters (let's hope my almost 1 year old nephew doesn't swallow one of the 1000 pieces it came in and craps out a plastic plate), and some Disneyland tix for my brother and his gf. Not going to run off all the gifts I gave, but everyone seemed stoked. :)

My Xmas outfit was the reindeer tee. I decided I had to wear this sparkly number for the big day, along with my super warm J.Crew Dream Open Cardigan, Red/Black checked scarf and my ripped jeans, which my mom said, you need to throw those out, they're ripped...haha. Mom, they're specially ripped. I bought them that way.

What a great day, we all had a good time and there were laughs to be shared by all.

What I Wore Today!

Sometimes it gets cold in Southern California. Hate us, but it's like 50 degrees and the heater in my house is cranked up, and we're doing some serious bundling up! Because it hardly ever gets this cold, I am not used to dressing fashionably without looking like a bulky little snow-woman.

I fished out my J.Crew Chunky Star Cable Popover Sweater. This sweater fulfills its long long name. It's super warm and with a favorite fit tank top underneath it, it's perfect. The scarf is offwhite, and keeps the cold from really getting to me. The pants are the cropped rip stop cargo pants in the blanched almond (for $29.99 and 20% off, I got another pair as a back up, and the warm clove, too). Threw on my Uggs, which I used to think were short for Ugg-ly, but after running through a couple of airports, I realized these are a God send. I love them and I love my less fashionable sister (haha, I'm dead if she sees this) for buying them for me on my birthday.

Hope you had a Merry Christmas and stayed warm and fashionable for the day!

What I Wore Today....

Items in this set:
J Crew pants, $80
J Crew sweater, $62
J Crew blouse, $98
Tory Burch flats, $195
J Crew bag, $295

I'm kind of digging the new polyvore re-do of their site. Now it tells you what the item is, how much it costs, etc. Saves a lot of wear and tear on me trying to figure all that out- thanks Polyvore, you're like a trust cup of coffee in the morning.

I've been MIA for a few days- according to my blog, I've been nude for, oh, let's say 5 days? I guess I've had a rehash of older styles I've created, and rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, I just wear it quietly without blogging.

Today, I took a little old with a little new. I can't say that I've gone gaga over the new stuff at jcrew. I don't like to harp on any company and their style team, but I'm thinking this year is a bit...drab and uninspiring. There, I said it.

So, with a little bit of creativity, I got out my navy cotton Jackie cardigan, my black Minnies (I literally live in these on my fat days), and my J.Crew Vita Metallic Cami in navy that I think I got in last year's winter sale. I didn't wear it until now because I didn't love the Simone cardigan it was paired with, so it's been dangling on a hanger in my closet, waiting to be worn and loved. Today, it got it's shot.

I grabbed my new aran silver metallic scarf to balance it off- warm and very sparkly and threw on my usuals: opera pearls, black patent flats, j.crew uptown tote, ring and watch. Oh, and my Jackie O shades.

What I Wore Today....

Sometimes, it's all about taking what's comfortable inside your closet and wearing it. Today, I dug and found my J.Crew Femme Cashmere Sweater in navy that is from the Fall 2008 line. It's ladylike, and looks more like a tunic, more than just a throwover sweater. I paired it with my blue jeans (Banana Republic jeans won me over today), and decked it out with my new J.Crew jersey stripe scarf in brown/tan that one of my good friends bought me for my birthday last month. She also got me the J.Crew Wool Herringbone Bucket hat in the butterscotch color, which I haven't worn yet because it hasn't been rainy or THAT cold yet. But I love it, nonetheless, even if it's sitting brand new in the packaging still! :)

Tossed my pearls on, my ballet patent flats (Cole Hahn, Nike Air, Ballet Patent Flats in Chocolate Brown- shhhh, no one knows they are that comfortable!), my J.Crew Belle Satchel in Pebble, and I am comfortable and cozy on my way to work!

What I Wore Today!

This was Friday's outfit- which was tossed together in a hurry. When I was getting ready, I made it easy on myself and thought, what color would I like to wear? Putty Friday came to mind, so it stuck, like putty. Haha.

I decided to pull 3 things from my closet that were close in color, yet distant in texture. I came up with the J.Crew Cable Cardigan in Putty (cashmere, yum), and then the Quinn Cami in pale almond (has some gold in it, very subtle rich sheen to it), and my cords, which I think were a warn sandlewood, if not a light acorn brown color).

It's fun wearing monochromatic colors. I think sometimes it throws people off, because it's normal to offset what you're wearing with contrasting colors (if you're brave and don't care like me. I'm in a 2 person office, and the other person better know what's best for him and not make a peep about what I decided to march in with this morning), or something plain that goes unnoticed (boring), but it does take some guts to pair up some colors that are close enough, to look stylish, yet daring!

What I Wore Today....

Just when I thought I was done with frilly tops...Evie shows up. I had also wanted to try the streamers cami, but they really weren't for me. The streamers cami seemed to run a bit longer, and I wasn't really interested in sizing down to a 0 to try to get it to fit. So I kept the simple Evie, which is in the violet stone color. It's pretty, rich in color and I thought, wouldn't that look terrific with my honey glaze schoolgirl cardigan (cashmere) from last year? Some items are perfect when they go on final sale- the cardi was one of them!

Paired with my Ecru colored cords from last year (cords or my staple when it gets colder, and I love that they're a different color, other than my blue and black jeans. I do have a lot of cords and my most recent color was picked up at the outlet- I think it's some heather cypress color.

Black patent ballet flats and my trusty J.Crew Belle Satchel, my j.crew opera pearls, and think I did pretty well for not planning my outfit in advance.

What I Wore Today....

Feeling pumpkin-y good today. Just when I think I'm over the ruffles, I reach for more. Like you can't just have one ruffle outfit each week. So this is a really pretty rust color, the J.Crew Ruffle Celosia Cardigan (bistro orange, I believe). I found my favorite tank in navy, my gray cords from last year and I was off to work on a rather cool day- 60's. The colors are nice together- very pleasant. Fall is definitely my favorite season of the year...

What I wore to work today!

I woke up this morning thinking that I missed the items from the past seasons...I miss the sparkles and the preppy nature of the old collection. Maybe because I like the stuffy and snooty look? I don't know. So, I dug (not too far), and found the J.Crew Silk Neck-tie Tank in Beige/Champagne (the pic shows a diff color, couldn't find the right stock photo), and my Dream Sparkle Argyle Cardigan from last Fall 2008. Maybe I'm spoiled with the best of the best, but I can't really see myself owning too many more forever-halfway-to-the-floor-thin cardigans, or buying more of the same colors when I don't even wear the ones I have. The cardi was $40 from last year's sale and the silk neck tie cami was $15. I feel like I just did a impromptu, Design on a Dime informercial. The beiges from the tank and the cardigan blend together almost perfectly.

Paired with my toothpick jeans in midnight wash, my standard black ballet patent flats, and my j.crew uptown tote in pewter, I was ready for work!

What I wore to work today!

I love the Marl Sweater Coat. I really do. It's what I call a California coat, because in Southern California, it rare that it gets so cold that you need a double serge, double thinsulate, double heating system in your jacket. Once in a full moon, I will grab a puffer, like when it hits 60 degrees...haha. We're spoiled out here.

I paired my Marl with the J.Crew Frances Ruffle Blouse in Shadow and my black Minnies and black patent ballet flats. Took my J.Crew Opera strand pearls and tripled them up so that they worked more like a choker.

If you get a chance to get the Marl, I'm sure you'll be happy. I could live in this sweater coat for days!

What I wore to work today!

2 days ago...I actually got the store version of the Anton, same Anton, but the color was the Heather Cypress, which is more of a pea-green color. I do love it because I was looking for something other than a Jackie Cardigan, or a Cashmere Tee, etc.

I have an arm full (yes, arm full) of the tissue turtlenecks from last season's sale (at like $10 each), so I'm starting to bring them out again. Some things are just good to have on hand, because as one of my friend's with a baby says "tissue turtlenecks are exactly what eventually becomes of them...tissues" Oh kids, love them, but they do destroy most of the cool clothes. I heard they even destroy inexpensive ones. I may have to figure out a way to scotchguard myself when it's my turn. Or just move my closet to work so that they will be far, far away from my clothing.

I do love my toothpick jeans in the black resin rinse. LOVE. I have never been a fan of black jeans, but these are the blackest of the black jeans and as long as you have someone in your household that won't fade them (see, I don't touch laundry. It's an agreement I have w/the bf), you will love them for a long time.

Pulled out the mohair scarf from last season (managed to score these in every color too- I'm kind of a Rainbow Bright like that)...so it came in handy on a rather cool day.

What I wore to work today!

OK- this is yesterday's post. I threw this together in a jiffy because I was running a bit late- it's the J.Crew Silvie Dress from Fall 2008, mine is the store's version in Heather Charcoal (darker than the light gray seen in the pic). Paired with the J.Crew Victoria Cami in Navy, triple stranded Opera length Pearls and I was ready to run.

The collar of the Victoria looks great under sweater dresses. As it gets colder, I try to dress up the cashmere and wool dresses, etc, to give it some more life. I used to just wear the dresses plain, with a scarf and pearls, but I've found that the collars to some of the Victorias, Frances, and Elizabeth halter/camis are just too darling to pass up. Plus, get some more wear out of them! In warmer weather, I'll just wear the camis under a cashmere/merino cardigan + pants/skirts.

What I wore to work today!

Sometimes, it just WORKS for me in the morning-(keep in mind, 75% of the time, it doesn't!)So, I'm feeling a little bit like a fatty this morning, so I decided the toothpick jeans weren't going to be friends with me, but my Minnies were calling my name. I love these- they're black, they're stretchy, they don't lose their shape, and they shamelessly look good on you 30 days out of the month. Really, they do. So grab a pair, I sized down because I think they run a bit bigger (Ok, J.Crew, if you say I'm a 0 on a fat day, I'll take it and run with it).

Another favorite is my Twisted Slub Cotton Henley- in gray. It's made from this really cool Japanese cotton, stretchy, sheer and very 9-5 pm cool. In fact, I threw on my opera length pearls (which I think every girl out there should own- unless I'm wearing something with a decorated collar, I will sport these every day!), double stranded them, and tossed on my Dream Shawl Cardigan to go with it.

I'm going to say I am warm, comfortable and don't look like I just got out of a log cabin. Give it a try!

What I Wore Today....

So I ordered this J.Crew Grand Corsage Top in a offwhite color in size 2, and guess what, J.Crew sent me a 4. So what did I do? I ripped off the tags in a rush, and threw it on. Good thing it fit..a little billowy, but whatever, I will always wear a cardigan with it since it's so darn sheer. (Hey world, I'm wearing a white bra today...but you knew that already!)

I wore this w/the J.Crew V-neck Merino Microstripe Cardigan from Fall 2009, which I love because this grand corsage needs a v-neck in order to show off this loveliness. Makes me feel like I'm at a party on a Monday morning.

Paired with J.Crew Cafe Capri's in British Khaki (with a skinny chalk colored belt) and the most incredibly comfortable brown patent ballet flats from Cole Haan (w/Nike Air technology, yo). They're brown shiny patent, and they're absolutely gorgeous!

What I Wore Today....

It's like being queen for the day...I just love this v-neck- J.Crew Slub Cotton Imperial Tee. It fits a bit bigger, so I sized down to an xs. I wore it with FiFi Merino Cardigan in black, which I love, because of the girlish ruffles. Fifi is perfect- Size small, because I don't like my cardigans too tight. I also pulled out of my closet, the black felted mini skirt from last year (staples, ladies, this is a staple item)- which kinda looks like the bistro skirt from this season- hey, black is black and a mini is a mini...

The ombre scarf is another must have. I love wearing this scarf because it's silky and purple. You can't really go wrong. I've paired it with saffron, yellows, oranges and I'll tell you what...it's a keeper!

What I Wore Today!

So you're looking to glam up your wardrobe a bit...but not have to revamp the whole thing. It's so easy. Invest this cute top (I have the black one- black on black sequins). Wear a white button up shirt underneath, grab some old blue jeans and make what was once old...new again.

It's kind of a fun look, and with the right simple accessories, you can really put some elegance into your look with not a whole lot of effort.

I love my J.Crew Belle Satchel. It holds just the same amount of stuff that my J.Crew Uptown Tote holds and it's shiny, so I can get away with carrying an offwhite purse, without the look and feel of a little old lady. Not old like any of us, but old...like our mom's and grannies...haha. I have one listed, so get one before it's gone (copy and paste the link):

What I wore today...

I am so ready for it to get cold. How ready? I crank my A/C in the office down to 68.5 degrees. It would be 55 by choice if I could get it lower, and then I can justify wearing a snow coat to work in California. Don't get me wrong, I'm horrid in the cold when it comes time to winter, and I'm crying like a baby because it's 60 in So Cali.

This is the J.Crew Fleur de lis Cardigan. I hesitated keeping this because of the fact that I have so many cardigans, but I was sold on the fleur de lis design. I must really miss Fall 2007!

This runs a little big, so I sized down and felt monochromatic clothing would serve it well. Black tissue turtleneck with the j.crew black resin rinse toothpick jeans. I do love these jeans. Because I'm in love with my toothpicks this season, I've found no reason to ever click on the pants/denim/cords button on the jcrew site. I also have these in the midnight wash and think they're fabulous.

The color of this cardi is driftwood, which is a dark straw color, and the jewels just make you feel a bit fancier. Minimal jewelry because it already comes with so much bling.

What I Wore Today....

So...it's officially Fall. Which means, I'm done wearing all the loud bright colors of summer...bring on the muted rich tones of the season! The J.Crew Eyelash Lace Cami/Tank is every bit of lovely and romantic. The best part about this top is the color, which is a tan/taupe color that went really well with my snow colored cashmere cardigan, black minnie pants and black patent flats. I can totally imagine wearing this with some dark greens, deep aubergine, dark purples, navy...and I'm sure it would look really stunning with cords and heels. A very versatile top.

I also love my J.Crew Opera Length Pearls. Talk about a piece I wear every day. I'm not so into the costume jewelry myself (because where would I start and where would it end??), but I like certain static pieces that are timeless. I double twist this strand to make it a double strand, but when I'm sporting my Frances Camis, I triple strand them so that it is more like a loose choker.

This is one of those pretty tops that I'm sure will get plenty of wear down the road! It fits true to size- I opted for a size 2, because that was the only one left- lucky me it worked for me! :)

What I wore to work today!

OK- so sometimes, I feel blah. Why? Because I stuffed myself with too many desserts, good food and found no time (MADE no time) to go workout. So, come Tuesday morning after a long weekend, I'm not in the mood for toothpick jeans that snicker at me when I try to pull them on. Second skin on a hot day when I'm feeling tubby, just doesn't work.

So, feeling my lumberjack best, I threw together this chambray shirt (which has the prettiest sheen), my golden hickory capri's, ($20 at jcrew now), and my man scarf (also from jcrew), I was good to go.

How do I feel? Pretty. Boyish pretty. Sometimes a girl just needs a break from girl clothes. Believe me, this is one cool outfit. I love it!

What I Wore To Work Today!

This tee is every bit of wonderful. No false advertising here! It's softer than soft cotton and the rose looks oh so delicate in the white trim. It's a dry clean only. It became one of the first casualties to my bf throwing it into the machine. But when your laundry is done/folded each week for you, you tend to overlook the minor things like your favorite shirt being destroyed. Haha.

Paired with the J.Crew Pointelle Cardigan, J.Crew Spectator Peep Toe Pumps and the J.Crew Toothpick Jeans and J.Crew Uptown Tote in Dusty Rose...I was all rosey and ready to go to work today!

What I wore to work today!

Every Fall, I wait and watch for the cool stuff to appear. Seeing that I have the Bella Herringbone in Charcoal, the Velvet Ecole in Tawny Olive (love), the J.Crew Lexington's in black and gray, and who knows how many canvas-esque jackets that were too cute to pass up...I did not fall in love with the Eden. Sorry, it was too bulky. Plus, my bf always tells me he doesn't love my Bella (what does he know, he's a boy), but when he saw the Schoolboy blazer, he was all over it like flies on poop. So, I kept it, even though it's now 90 degrees consistently in So Cal. I saw this in the navy (which was my first pick, but all the people in the store said get the charcoal one), and really liked it, but they were right- a little too much Thirsten Howell the Third. You could have thrown a captain's hat on me and given me a yacht to set sail for a 3 hour tour.

So, the charcoal won. Since it's the main piece, I think giving it some plain items to go with it would totally serve it some justice. It's definitely one of those pieces, like the Bella and the Ecole that I would keep for several years (or more).

Missed out on the Ecole? I have several more of these lovelies in the smaller sizes:

What I wore to work today!

Felt a bit overwhelmed today, so I decided to....SEIZE THE DAY. Yup, said to hell with the things I cannot change and worked with the things I had control over. Like my wardrobe...haha. Sometimes my wardrobe tackles me and it takes forever for me to get dressed. Sometimes life gets daunting. Here's my advice for the day: Big picture, and baby steps. I truly live by these words.

So, the J.Crew Jakarta Cardigan. Love this. It goes well with dark slate, honey glaze, golds, blue jeans...the print gets a double take, because the pattern is truly mesmerizing. I'm quite hypnotic like that! Haha. So, still have it in a few skirts, shorts, and cardi's- if you like prints (and this fall 2009 seems to be lacking in cool prints), this one's for you, kid...

Seize the tee shirt, and you'll be able to "seize the day"! The chiffon tape tee that everyone had to have, don't let it get away!

Want the happy yellow tote that is filled with sunshine and all bits of goodness?

What I wore to work today!

Feeling blah? Maybe you need some green and gold in your life! I love the pairing of rich colors, I guess it's because it makes you feel happy for what you do have in life. But really, we must remember to be thankful for what we do have!

Several times a year, our family does Thanksgiving. Sounds crazy, right? It started this year when we were done with the Birthday's, Anniversary's, etc, and we thought, why is this delicious meal only done in November? So...we divided the duties, and made Thanksgiving in March. It was wonderful and good. So good, we did it like 2 more times- I know, we are the envy of most people.:P

This is the J.Crew antiqued sequin gold tank, and is every bit as cool as it looks. I also have the dress version, which I don't know if I will ever get to go somewhere cool to wear it to...maybe to Vegas, we'll see. The J.Crew Cashmere Cardi is wonderfully colored, and of course, the Belle Satchel in Pebble. Got 1 left, and it truly is the polished bag of the season:

What I Wore Today....

I was a bit hesitant to get this cashmere croquet cardigan, but, what the hell. I did. I'm kind of glad I did. It's a Chanel-esque look without the weight of a jacket. It's thick, so you know it will keep you warm. Especially when it is 90 degrees in So Cal, but a breezy 70 in the office. I paired this with toothpick jeans in black resin rinse (OMG, LOVE these), and my normal accessories. I'm pretty much vibrant today, which is good because my allergies are making me feel pretty lousy (thus, the bright happy colors!).

If you get a chance, size up in this, and make it part of your collection.

Oh, speaking of which, this is a collection item, which makes me love it that much more!

What I wore to work today!

I'm going to call this the "If I could..." post. If I could buy all the Frances cami's in my size, I would. In every color. :P This is how much I love this top. The deep rose is my newest addition (own the geo, thinking I need the yellow, and ivory one- as well as the herringbone print one). Crazy, yes I am....especially about the Frances cami!

I paired this with the Minnie pants. Now, if I decide to get two things this season, I'm going to say it's the Minnie pants. I'm a 0-2, although in the Cafe Capri's, I'm a Petite 4, so I got this in a 0. I haven't worked out in 2-3 weeks, but these pants will lie and tell you I'm on a strict workout routine, coupled with my celebrity chef that makes me low-cal, low-fat, low-carb meals. When I bought this top in the Deep Rose, I found myself thinking how perfect it would look with the Minnie's in the gray. Black or ivory cashmere cardi to pair it off.

I'm finding that j.crew sizing is running a bit differently. Whereas I normally wear a 2, I can squish myself comfortably into a 0. My mirror does tell me something different though!

What I wore to work today!

2 years ago, J.Crew rolled out a lot of fantastic items. It was more of a "royalty" theme, with crowns, and rich jeweled tones, deep purples, greens, grays, rich, rich colors. I loved every piece and I'm pretty sure my closet has the best of the best. To recreate the same look, I stuck to a lot of basics I already have. You will see a lot of reoccuring themed items that I continually use: J.Crew Uptown Tote in Light Pewter, J.Crew High Heel in patent black, Sunglasses, Raymond Weil watch, J.Crew Opera length pearl necklace, Patent Black Flats, but it's because I'm boring like that. I like to stick with what works and occassionally, I'll go out on a limb and buy things that I end up returning because I'm thinking, some colors/styles are not for me.

For one, I am an J.Crew Uptown Tote girl. It's roomy, it's stylish and it's not too frilly. I can't do frilly. Light Pewter is my Fall pick, but I also own the tote in navy, white, metallic crackle silver, and God knows what else is stuffed in my closet.

Secondly, shoes. Don't get me wrong. I have tons of shoes- just that I wear the same ones all the time. Black or brown always work for me, and I make sure they're comfortable. At 30, going on 31, I'm not really trying to score a trip to the podiatrist so that he can tell me I will need bunion surgery one day.

Thirdly, I am a scarf girl. Often times, the scarf will make the outfit because of the extra added colors. Sometimes I feel guilty for buying more, but that goes away really quickly when I see how awesome I look.

Ok- back to this outfit. The Imperial Tee is just royally cool. Toss the Ombre Scarf in Purple on, high heel denim jeans and you've got yourself one cool outfit!

Sometimes I start polyvoring, and I find that it actually encourages me to go back to the store to look for something I'm lacking. This time, I found it in the Men's Section. This boiled wool scarf is cool. How cool? Well, I'm not much of a "men's wear" type of girl. So you won't find me with a lumber shirt, half tucked, posing with one leg on a wooden crate at any j.crew. Sometimes I think the look looks good in the catalog, but really, how many of us are 6 feet tall and rail thin, with perfect hair and make up? Not in my life. But that's ok. I will make due with what I have. So. The scarf. Really a nice piece that looks really cool with the J.Crew Tissue Beaded Medallion Tee in Dark Slate and Cafe Capri's in Golden Hickory. It's still August, so there will be many more warm months in So Cali. At $20/pair, these capri's are a steal.

The black high heels give it a polished look, and I'm thinking I may even get a Timex for fun. It's a bit boyish, but the heels and jeweled tee certainly give it the perfect girlish balance!

I'm baaaaaack! Thank you for your kind messages while I was away. Busy, busy, but found a warm Saturday afternoon to post a blog. So, Fall 2009 rollout #2 has just occurred. Once my excitement died down, I went into my closet to see what I didn't have already. Warm Maize heels? Nope. Anton in black? Nope. Really trying hard not to overdo it this season, although I can just envision my bf rolling his eyes.

What I love about this outfit. Yellow's (Citron, ambers, etc) ALWAYS go well with gray. What I'm not finding this season is too many novelty tee's, like the trusty zebra. I'm kind of a novelty person- I have enough blank boring tees that never need to be replaced because they only get so much wear (i,e, under sweaters, under hoodies, undershirts) The sequin work on this is really special. I have XS, M and Large left, so let me know. And everyone has white jeans. The Anton fits really, really, snug. Size up. Also, size up on the Zebra tee, as this is a thicker cotton and tends to run smaller.

What I wore to work today!

Oh....total coolness! I always size down in v-necks (rarely wear them because I feel they're too low cut for conservative me...), but this is cool. Light pewter print with 3 rhinestones tacked onto the printed crown. I haven't even read the shirt, but did noticed that it said "Fresh Persimmons" upside down when I glanced down earlier. Not sure what persimmons have to do with royal looking crowns, but it's cute, nonetheless. I wore my golden cypress merino Portland cardigan, toothpick jeans, and was ready to roll out of the house, feeling and looking pretty spiffy.

A fun look for a serious Weds!

What I Wore Today!

Since I am a major slow poke at doing dry cleaning (I have no idea how long my champagne rose chiffon tee or black rose chiffon tee has been sitting in the bag, waiting to be professionally cleaned...), I felt the need to break out my new white rose chiffon tee. I got dressed in a major rush (a first), and went with the basic private school look again. Paired with my navy Jackie cardigan, I was ready to go!

I have a few more of these lovely tees (white, pewter, natural and pink)- so many compliments, one of my favorites being "wow, what a cool shirt!", from someone I know who is equally, if not more stylish than me. I hope you all have gotten one too- this is definitely the season's must have.

Wake up, smell the roses. Life's too short to be so serious. Seriously! :)

Got A Sweet Tooth?

Sometimes, I'm just in the mood for something sweet. I love these tees- they have some simple embellishments that make it extra fancy and give it that special "umph" your outfit may be lacking. Perfect for the "I'm going into Fall fashions now" look.

It's hard to put my finger on which is my favorite one. Because they're two toned, I find it easy to dress it up/down, depending on where I'm going. I created 4 easy to wear outfits, because you never know when I'm in the mood for Mr. Smith's mints, Licorice Bits, or just some Rose Balm!

I have a few left in select sizes! Email me and we'll send one to you for $40 shipped. The only way to sweeten your mood without your teeth falling out. Dentist friendly. :)

What I wore to work today!

Oh...the J.Crew Leopard Cardigan. Yeah, I really loved this, but was torn about getting it because it's coloring was very similar to the python print (have this) and the alligator print (didn't love this). Anyhoo, paired with the Zoey tank in Jasmine (the perfect shiny layering piece- I think I have a 4 and 8 listed on ebay), and white jeans, I was off to work in style.

One thing you may see as a reoccurring theme in my polyvore sets is the J.Crew Opera Strand of Pearls. Years ago, I got a very lovely single strand from Mikimoto, which I cherish dearly...except J.Crew styles everything with layered jewelry. I tried pretty hard not to give into having to buy J.Crew specific pearls because I saw that Macy's would have pretty good sales, etc. But the quality of $500 double stranded pearls at Macy's doesn't compare to the consistently smooth pears of J.Crew. So, I am happy to say, if you're looking for a good strand at a relatively comparable price, try out the Opera strand.

What I wore today...

Sometimes, the colors your wear will define your mood. I used to be afraid of colors, sticking with darker colors, but I found wearing brighter brights can really cheer you up (not to mention the others around you!) I'm finding that I really love these rosette chiffon belts, and that they really give the outfit the perfect yipppppeee! of color.

What I'm wearing this weekend....

It's like Michael Jackson's song...it don't matter if you're black or white. Yup, I got invited to a black/white themed party in Santa Barbara this weekend- much of me toyed with the idea of going in a white dress, but then I get the dreaded barrage of "why aren't you married yet" questions...and I sold my island eyelet dress this morning, so scratch that.

I found the j.crew sanur dress in black and thought, ok, this better work, because the twisted strap jersey dress had this horrible plastic ribbing that was just tearing up my skin- so I dug up my chiffon ribbon belt, a cashmere cardigan in snow and I'm off to the races.

Should be somewhat cooler along the coastline, so that's where the cashmere comes in. I think the chiffon belt adds a nice feminine touch to the outfit, so I decided to keep the other color belts for when I wear jeans + tees.

W
W by Natedac on Ebay featuring J Crew

Thinking aloud here...summer has just So Cali, and I'm trying to figure out what will fit the mood, come Monday morning. The Vintage Violet Cardigan will probably win out- with the citron Joelle Cami (I love these!). Second place is the J.Crew Jakarta Cardigan w/the Warm Maize Bermudas. Third place, the Watercolor Floral Skirt, my happy medium when I need that extra push...perhaps on Wednesday, Hump Day!

What I REALLY wore to work today!

Scratch yesterday's planned outfit...couldn't pull it off when I realized how warm it was going to be today...like low 80's. (I know, I'm sorry for all of you experiencing global warming in your part of the world, menopausal hot flashes, broken A/C's...). Anyhoo...Yup, I got it. The J.Crew Rolling Ruffles Tank in White. I figured it was going to be sell out, so I scooped one up on day and kept it. I have this in every color, and so far, it's worked well with all the J.Crew Merino Portland long cardigans. I think I have enough long cardis for now...any longer than the Portland Cardi, and it might be called a Car Coat for me. The Portland hits at mid-thigh, and the color today is navy. I wore it with my cafe capris and waaaalaah! My insta-outfit of the day!

What I wore to work today!

Planning out my outfit a day ahead is supposed to save me time, right? Ha! I think it saves me time so I have time to tool around my place until I feel like I'm abusing my powers as being my own boss. But, I have to admit, I feel like a million bucks when I show up...and hopefully I look it too. One time, I was at a restaurant during lunch and a really old guy came up to me and told me how pretty I was. So I guess all this prep work does pay off to people who are clearly losing their vision.

On to the clothing...this J.Crew Leopard Sequin Cardigan is ridiculous. Retailing at $350, I waited until it hit about 2 markdowns before buying it. The verdict? It's one of those cardigans that really didn't get much play, probably because of the retail price. But when you see the details on it, your jaw just drops! Who, in their right mind, would sit there for hours/days/weeks sewing on all this iridescent sequins? Well, someone did, and boy did they do a great job. The print underneath is the leopard print in gray, but the sequins will make it appear somewhat light greenish, in real life. Paired with my J.Crew Joelle Cami in navy, this will make for a nice contrast.

It's Friday tomorrow...so wear something special to celebrate the fact that there are two more days until Monday! :)

What I wore to work today!

How divine is this J.Crew Beaded Chiffon Glisse Cami Top? The sequin detail on this is just amazing, as if you were wearing a bunch of princess jewelry. For having so many jewels on it, it's rather lightweight, silky and the perfect top for a nice warm day. The glitter and glitz decorates the v-neckline, with spaghetti straps. I added the J.Crew Golden Cypress Merino Cardigan for some warmth and color. Flared jeans, and my trusty J.Crew Belle Satchel in Pebble.

When buying clothes for myself, I really try picking the Black Label Collection pieces because I find them so interesting and full of personality. They may be a bit pricier (I wait for the mark downs!), but they are clothing to be cherished for years to come. One can have only so many perfect fit tees, tanks and khakis!

What I wore to work today!

Feeling zoo-rific today. This is one fantastic cardigan. It's called the intarsia weave, which means if you flip the cardi inside out, it looks like each yellow block is woven into the cream parts of the cardigan. Tedious, I'm sure, which is why this cardi is so special. It's 14 gauge merino knit, and lightweight, yet keeps the air conditioning from freezing me to death. 3/4 sleeves, button up, it went perfectly with my Cafe Capri's in British Khaki.

I heart this cardigan!!!
